M48 Severn Bridge Operations Room Plan

We recently completed a rather complex recreation and update of the primary diagram at the Severn Bridge Operations Room.

Their existing diagram was somewhat outdated, with handwritten updates. It was also quite old and just paper attached to the wall, so it had become a bit frayed on the edges.

After conducting an initial site visit to discuss requirements, measure the existing plan, assess the available space on the wall, and collect some additional plan details, the work to recreate and update the space commenced.

We had regular discussions with our client as the recreation, updates, and amendments progressed. Part of this involved modifying supplied CAD files, scanning and tracing the existing plan, and the client marked up further amendments. We also sent full-sized hard copies of the prints for review and used “live” checking to see if any additional elements were needed in the diagram beyond the initial scope (which they were).

Once the final diagram had been meticulously checked and approved, we presented some visual representations of the wall mounting and design options.

The installed bridge plan diagram is a 6-meter by 1-meter dry-wipe magnetic vinyl panel with offset cut-out vinyl lettering for the logos and bridge title.

It looks great!
